Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
This policy explains what personal information AussieCitizen collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
George jackson Minj provides the AussieCitizen study platform (trading as AussieCitizen) and is the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact us at support@aussiecitizen.com.
AussieCitizen is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Australian Government or the Department of Home Affairs. We never share your study data with them.
What we collect and why
- Account data (name or display name, email, password hash held by our authentication provider) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Study data (answers, practice sessions, mock test results, bookmarks, XP, achievements, streaks) — to provide progress tracking, analytics and revision. Legal basis: contract.
- AI Study Coach messages — to generate explanations and improve safety filtering. Legal basis: contract and our legitimate interest in a safe service.
- Subscription data (plan, status, renewal date, payment provider customer and subscription identifiers) — to give you the access you paid for. Legal basis: contract.
- Technical and usage data (device type, IP address, log and error data) — for security, fraud prevention and product improvement. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Support messages you send us — to answer you. Legal basis: contract and legitimate interests.
What we do not collect
We never see or store your card details. Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record, which collects the payment and billing information it needs directly from you.
Who we share it with
- Service providers acting on our instructions: hosting, database and authentication infrastructure, error monitoring and the AI model provider that powers the Study Coach.
- Paddle, our merchant of record, for the sale of subscriptions, payments, invoicing, subscription management and tax compliance.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) and authorities where required by law.
Retention
We keep your account and study data for as long as your account exists, so your history is there when you come back. If you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data, except records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention purposes.
Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email support@aussiecitizen.com and we will respond within one month.
Australian users may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; users in the UK or EEA may complain to their local supervisory authority. Where data is transferred outside your region we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls in our database and server-side checks on every privileged action. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Our checkout provider sets its own cookies as needed to process payments. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though signing in will stop working without the essential ones.
